Your first time - How to book and what to expect

Updated: Jan 22, 2023

Getting your first tattoo with a new artist can be intimidating, confusing and even scary for some. I asked my followers on Instagram why they'd feel nervous? Most of them said "the unknown" -not knowing what to do, or what is going to happen. I wrote this article to help you understand my booking process.

Though I'll mainly talk about how to book with me, this will give you an idea of how things work for a lot of appointment-based artists. But bear in mind that each artist work differently regarding their own booking. Please make sure to check with them directly first. You can find such information on the artist's social media or website.

Booking Status: Books Open or Closed

I do my own admin and this mode of working gives me a lot of freedom over my work and guarantee that I can achieve my own vision and prioritise the quality of the tattoos I produce for you.

My books are closed at the moment. I'll reopen my books in late Feb 2023. You can join my mailing list and I'll email you first thing when my books reopen.

How to book?

If you'd like to book with me, simply use the booking form above. Read along to find out more about the form.

Consultation?

I do consultation online through a booking form, which will be released when my books reopen. The form is very straightforward and you just fill it as you would a questionnaire. I will ask for your contact information as well as your tattoo idea.

What information do I need?

For the tattoo, I will be needing the following information:

(1)Tattoo concept. You will give me a simple yet complete description of your tattoo idea.

For example: a bouquet consists of daffodil, sunflower and lilies on my forearm.

If you want to book one of my flash(pre-drawn) designs you’d like, you just tell me it's a flash and attach a photo as reference photo.

(2) How big do like the tattoo to be? Tell me in centimetres please.

I recommend using a ruler to measure against your desired body placement, and doing so will give you a rough idea of the size. I may suggest a slightly different size based on your tattoo concept, only because it may be more suitable. If this is the case, I will discuss with you through emails.

I CANNOT work with "palm size", "hand size" or "the same size as in the photo". Vague or inaccurate information will need unnecessary back and forth, which may delay your booking.

(3)Body placement: Where would you like the tattoo to be on your body? I can make suggestions and will always offer my honest opinions on your choices. It is your body so you can decide where you want it. Please also respect my opinions - if I think a design doesn't work for a certain body placement, I will suggest alternatives or may not take on the project.

(4)Reference photos.

Please send total of 3-5 references photos of your tattoo concept/subject. If it is a flash design you want to book, you can just send me the screenshot of the flash design here.

I also need additional 2 photos my previous work as style reference.

What happens next?

Your submitting the form is your expression of interest and a space is not guaranteed.

Please understand that I only take on projects that are my style and that I can excel in. In addition to that, I have limited spaces available so I will not be able to take on all your projects.

If your project is chosen, you will receive an email reply with further instructions to complete your booking. Make sure to check your spam/junk folder too.

If you haven't heard a reply, it means you didn't get a place with me this time. I will update booking progress on my Instagram.

Deposit and payment?

If proceeding further, I will send you a quote with payment instructions by email. A deposit of $50 - $100 is required to secure your booking. This will pay towards the full price of your tattoo.

Please note that deposit is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to someone else.

Always make sure you are 100% sure about the tattoo before putting down your deposit.

I'm still not sure.

I have pre-drawn/flash designs to choose if you're not sure what designs to get.

However, if after researching and you're still not sure about getting a tattoo, please wait a bit longer. There is no rush for a tattoo. I will reopen my books again and there are countless amazing artists out there too. Your opportunity to get a good tattoo will not run out.

Getting a tattoo is much easier than getting rid of a tattoo. Don't get one just because everyone's doing it. You will know when it feels right for you!

I hope this article has given you a clear idea of how the booking process works. If you find this useful, save it and keep it. If you think someone else might need it, share the love.

Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing your lovely ideas.

Love,

Yolanda
